A Rebuild or overhaul of a transmission, is required when the damage of the internal components is too excessive to repair. This requires the transmission to be removed and disassembled completely. The internal components of an automatic transmission can be divided into 3 categories:
Soft Parts include:
|
Hard parts include, but are not limited to:
|
Valve body is the brain of the transmission. Valves, springs and solenoids comprise this unit and control the timing and pressure of the transmission. It must be disassembled, washed and inspected during the rebuild process.
A rebuilt transmission must include, at the very minimum, a complete soft parts replacement. Furthermore, if any of the hard parts are worn or damaged, they will be replaced as well with new components. Electrical components that reside inside the gearbox are replaced during our overhauls as a precaution regardless if the originals are still testing well.
